Santos se destaca como possuidora do maior jardim de praia do mundo, registrado no Livro dos Records. Além disso, possui avançada infra-estrutura turística. São muitos hotéis e flats, bares e restaurantes, agências bancárias, shoppings, centro de convenções, supermercados, museus, centros culturais, universidades, bibliotecas, teatros e cinemas, além de rede hospitalar.
O que fazer: Conhecida como capital nacional do triathlon, é propícia pra a prática da maioria dos esportes, como caminhada, corrida, vôlei, basquete, frescobol, tamboréu, entre outros. Na praia, são mais de 200 barracas representando clubes ou entidades, inclusive profissionais.
Os 7 km de praias não possuem separação geográfica, apenas recebem os nomes dos bairros por onde passam. Os marcos costumam ser canais. Em geral, as praias possuem mar tranqüilo e areias macias.
Praia do José Menino (da divisa com São Vicente até o Canal 2): Esta praia, bastante freqüentada por surfistas, é próxima à divisa com São Vicente, e abriga a Plataforma do Emissário Submarino. Neste local será erguido o Museu Pelé.
Praia do Gonzaga (do Canal 2 ao Canal 3): Praia mais badalada, é ponto final da linha de ônibus turística (Conheça Santos).
Praia do Boqueirão (do Canal 3 ao Canal 4): Praia com boa infra-estrutura de serviços, posto policial, banco 24 horas e sanitários. Possui prédios modernistas tombados pelo Patrimônio Histórico. Com feira de artesanato aos finais de semana.
Praia Praia do Embaré (do Canal 4 ao Canal 5): Com muitos quiosques e bares, é bastante freqüentada por jovens. Fica em frente à basílica Menor de Santo Antônio do Embaré.
Praia de Aparecida (do Canal 5 ao Canal 6): Com lugar bom para brincadeiras de crianças, a Fonte do Sapo é bastante freqüentada pela garotada, para patinar, andar de bicicleta, entre outras atividades. Acontecem nesta praia, bailes para a terceira idade.
Ponta da Praia (do Canal 6 ao Canal 7): Deste lugar, são vistos os navios se movimentando no porto de Santos. Com exposições artísticas, clube de regatas, ferry boat e balsas para Guarujá. Também fica nessa praia a ponte Edgard Perdigão, conhecida como ponte dos Práticos, de onde saem as embarcações para a reserva ecológica da Laje de Santos e Fortaleza da Barra. Bom de pescar junto ao Canal 7.
